Frailty is a distinct clinical syndrome, with shared biological pathways driven by ageing. It is associated with increased risk of further morbidity and mortality. Age-associated co-morbidity is often a risk factor for frailty. An increased prevalence of frailty has been recognised in PWHIV for several years now, and decline in function in PWHIV will be an ever-increasing issue due to the success of antiretroviral therapy.
